Service Description

The ASD assessment is delivered through a structured clinical process that may include: Initial intake and clinical interview A detailed discussion of your history, current functioning, and reasons for seeking assessment. Standardised psychological assessment Administration of validated assessment measures to evaluate autism-related traits, cognitive functioning, executive functioning, and emotional wellbeing. Behavioural observation Clinical observation of communication style, social interaction, and behaviour during assessment sessions. Collateral information (where available and consented) Information may be gathered from a parent, partner, caregiver, or other relevant informant to support developmental history and current functioning. Clinical formulation and diagnostic consideration Integration of all available information to determine whether diagnostic criteria for ASD are met in accordance with DSM-5-TR guidelines. Written assessment report A comprehensive report outlining assessment findings, diagnostic conclusions (where applicable), functional impacts, and evidence-based recommendations. Feedback session A session to discuss the results of the assessment, answer questions, and review recommendations. Purpose of the Assessment The purpose of the ASD assessment is to: Clarify whether you meet diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder Provide a clear, clinically grounded understanding of your strengths and potential support needs Inform appropriate supports, accommodations, or interventions in education, employment, or daily life Guide referrals to allied health professionals where relevant (e.g., psychology, occupational therapy, or speech pathology) Support access to services, funding, or reasonable adjustments where applicable (e.g., NDIS, workplace, or educational settings) Provide psychoeducation to you and your support network The assessment is intended to support informed decision-making and promote meaningful, practical outcomes that enhance wellbeing and participation in daily life.
